Our Process

We start with a 1/2 - 1 hour video or phone call. During this we will discuss your wishes and goals for your video. Questions may include:

  • What do you want to accomplish with this video? For example, highlight a special occasion; honor a family member or members; celebrate a life event.

  • Will this video be shown at an event? Is there a timeline/deadline we are working with?

  • Is there a specific story you would like told?

  • What will be an appropriate length for the video?

  • What types of materials are available to tell the story (e.g., photos, family videos/film, letters, newspaper clippings, etc.).

  • Will there be any need for narration / voice over?

After this call, we will send you a treatment statement and estimate for your project.

If you are interested in moving forward, we will send you a contract which spells out the parameters of the project, production schedule, and the payment process.

Next, we will begin to develop the storyboard for your video and will work with you to better understand and select film/video, photos, letters, and/or other assets that will be used in the video. If desired, this may include archival documents such as photos, film, and news clippings that can be found by the Family Tapestries team.

Music / Sound

Due to copyright restrictions, there are limitations as to what music can be used, but we will suggest music / sound selections that match the spirit of your video using licensable music / sound sources.
